Almstead Organic Care Specialists work with the latest technology and information to maintain our customers’ landscapes without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. As an Almstead Organic Specialist, you posses a strong horticultural background as well as the field experience necessary to identify cultural issues, plant species, insects and diseases common to our area.
You will evaluate, monitor and employ the proper techniques required to improve and maintain the trees, shrubs and turf naturally in the landscape. You’ll work closely with Arborists, landscapers, irrigation technicians and clients to provide critical feedback and recommendations appropriate to maintaining a property organically. We work hard to ensure our PHC Specialists are the best in the business by providing them with the resources, tools and education they need to remain leaders in their profession.
Responsibilities: • Obtain NOFA certification and licensing required by state or local agencies. • Evaluate site conditions and recommended treatment options with priority placed on organic care options. • Understand and operate all related equipment. • Understand insect & disease life cycles as well as plant and soil biology. • Perform accurate and timely record keeping. • Ability to identify local tree, turf and ornamental plant species. • Ability to identify turf-weed species and methods of control. • Ability to identify insects common to local trees, ornamentals and turf and demonstrate an understanding of their life cycles and methods of control. • Ability to identify common disease of trees, turf and ornamental plants and prescribe controls. • Maintain a safe and controlled work environment adhering to Company policy and state and local regulations. • Maintain all related records and documents required for tracking the application of materials and monitoring the progress of the landscapes under your care. • Maintain open communication with consulting Arborists, clients and related service providers providing feedback on land care issues.
Requirements: Two/four degree in arboriculture, forestry, horticulture, floriculture, silviculture, plant science, plant pathology, plant biology, environmental science or related field. Non-degreed candidates with a minimum of five years industry experience will also be considered. Candidates shall demonstrate their ability to effectively communicate and must possess a valid driver’s license.
